Loan default fillings in Idaho keep rising each month that passes. Ada County's one-month total fillings increased almost every month of 2007, starting with 85 in January and ending with 190 in December. Last months total default fillings amounted to about 245 compared to last years March fillings this years are up 147 percent. The number of trustee sales has also increased in the state.

Montana's foreclosure rates remain lower than many parts of the country. However, there are sign to watch for trouble in the horizon. There are some hot spots of foreclosure activity in Montana but it is nowhere near as bad as many other states. There are currently only six bank-owned homes that have been foreclosed in the Helena area, compared to 60 in Great Falls. There are typically 800 foreclosures a year in Montana, but that number is expected to rise to about 1,200 before the year is over.

In Idaho pets are becoming victims of foreclosures much more often than in previous months. Cats and dogs are very frequently abandoned in homes where there have been no inhabitants for months. Realtors are constantly running into starving, abandoned animals and have rescued many. Local shelters have become overwhelmed with the amount of abandoned pets that are pouring in due to the foreclosure crises. Many realtors have said that they find abandoned pets in about 1 in every 4 foreclosed homes. So far this month The Pet Refuge has rescued 7 dogs and dozens of cats.
