Foreclosed Homes In Ohio Are Sold For $1

Minnesota's response to a spreading foreclosure crisis involves more counseling, mediation and a compact that would prod lenders to modify loans for people in danger of losing their homes. This new plan is not going to be able to save everyone but the more tools that are on the table the greater the likelihood we will be able to help and save peoples homes. The city remains cool to a legislation that would defer foreclosures for a year to at risk borrowers because it could hinder the availability of loans for qualified borrowers.

Loveland, Ohio is trying to revitalize their economy; one of the steps they are taking to do this is tackling foreclosures. Loveland City Council approved an ordinance authorizing the City Manager to (in certain circumstances) to buy foreclosed properties for $1 each from the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development in a program that gives the city these options: sell the property and use the money for housing projects; demolish the house and use the property for a public purpose, or donate the property to a program such as Habitat for Humanity.

Loveland, Florida's foreclosure rates decreased from February to March but are now on the rise again. The flood of foreclosures swamped homeowners in March and are expected to do the same this month. Declining home prices and stricter lending requirements have exacerbated the foreclosure environment. Homeowners stuck in unmanageable mortgages aren't able to sell their homes or refinance into cheaper loans before payments on their adjustable rate mortgages reset higher.
