Foreclosures In Texas Are Currently Much Lower Than the Same Time Last Year

Many states in the U.S.are very frustrated with the federal government because of their unwillingness to help the foreclosure crisis. State governments have been taking matters into their own hands and doing as much as they can to help ease foreclosures. Philadelphia's sheriff delayed foreclosure auctions of 759 homes at the city councils urging. Maryland has extended the time it takes to complete a foreclosure and Ohio has recruited more than 1,000 lawyers to aid distressed homeowners. These are just a few of the steps that some states are taking in order to help their residents.
Illinois has seen a rise in foreclosures but they are not mirroring the rates of the rest of the country. Illinois's foreclosure numbers are lower than many other states. Illinois ranked 12th in the country for foreclosures in March, with 1 in every 603 households in some stage of foreclosure. That's a 10 percent increase from March 2007 and a 2 percent decrease from February 2008. Illinois has not seen the astronomical price increases seen in many states and not as many subprime loans.
El Paso, Texas continues to see declining numbers in home foreclosure fillings while foreclosures continue to sky rocket nationally. El Paso had 328 homes in some stage of foreclosure in the first three months of this year, down 52.3 percent from the 688 foreclosure fillings for the same period last year. Foreclosures increased 57 percent in the U.S. in March of this year compared to the same time last year. Meanwhile, fillings in El Paso decreased 24.5 percent in March compared to the previous year.
