In Minnesota home prices are are down and foreclosures are up. In Johnson County foreclosures are skyrocketing. So far this year the Sheriff's Department has conducted 718 foreclosure sales compared to only 440 conducted last year at the same time. Thousands of homeowners are trying to sell their houses but are finding that its taking a large amount of time.
Massachusetts's rising number of foreclosures is putting added pressure on the real estate market, but it may be contributing to a surge in multi-family home sales. Investors are returning to the state and the sales of multi-family homes have jumped 62 percent. This increase may reflect a steep drop in the median price of multi family homes in the the city of Lowell.
All around the U.S. ex-homeowners have been wrecking their old homes to get back at their old lenders. They pour paint all over the carpets, rip out the kitchen sink, toilet, bathtub and light fixtures. With a growing number of homes falling into foreclosure, real estate agents say more and more ex-owners and tenants are vandalizing properties on their way out the door.
